Another busy day come and gone. More dry beans harvested. More onions hauled out of the field. More enjoyment of a sunny dry day. Slowly but surely we are getting the storage crops under cover. The fields are looking a little sparse as more crops fizzle out. Jim is just itching to get on the tractor and start discing in abandoned plantings and empty beds. It would be great to get some cover in before the rains start.
Today’s box contains some of the most beautiful broccoli we have grown in a good long while. Some heads were almost 2 pounds. Click the link for a recipe for a delicious broccoli cheddar soup. I made some for dinner tonight, actually.
Along with fabulous broccoli, here is what else you should have found in your box:
beets or chard
sungold cherry tomatoes (large shares also got some red cherries mixed in)
an assortment of summer squash
basil or parsley
sweet red or green pepper
